Code of Conduct for Players

 

Who does this apply to?

The Players Code of Conduct applies to all individuals participating in badminton as a player at every level.

Any breaches of the code will be referred to Badminton Ireland for consideration under it’s policies and regulations.

Players will:

Show respect for and treat everyone equally regardless of age, ability, gender, race, religion,

ethnic origin, social status or sexual orientation. Everyone has the right to be protected from abuse.

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of badminton.
Play within the laws of the game. 

Respect all officials and accept their decisions without question or complaint.
Take personal responsibility to ensure that they are suitably insured for their activities.
Wear appropriate clothing for playing badminton during training and competition.
Keep to agreed times for training and competitions, and inform the appropriate person in a timely manner if they need to withdraw or cannot avoid being late.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

Players will NOT:

Condone behaviour that contravenes the Badminton Ireland Codes of Conduct or prohibited practice.
Use illegal or dangerous tactics.
Use social or any other electronic media to publicly criticise any other player or official involved in the game of badminton or otherwise bring the sport into disrepute through inappropriate communications.

Betting/Wagering in Badminton

"BWF Rules on Betting"

 Please be aware of the new rules on Betting / Wagering for Badminton.

Everyone involved in badminton should read the document attached and especially Section 3 on the dos and don’ts.

Some highlights worth noting:

3.2.3 No Player who is registered on the most recent BWF World Ranking as having played

three (3) or more tournaments shall, directly or indirectly, Bet, Wager or attempt to Bet

or Wager on the outcome or any other aspect of any Events or any other international

badminton competition irrespective of the Player participating in the Event or not.

For the avoidance of doubt this means that no such Player is allowed to participate in

any Betting or Wagering activities.

3.2.7  No Covered Person shall, directly or indirectly, solicit or facilitate any other person to

Bet or Wager on the outcome or any other aspect of any Event or any other badminton

competition.

3.2.10  No Covered Person shall, directly or indirectly, offer or provide any money, benefit or

Consideration to any other Covered Person with the intention of negatively influencing

a Player's best efforts in any Event.

3.2.11  No Covered Person shall, directly or indirectly, solicit or accept any money, benefit or

Consideration, for the provision of any Inside Information.
